Marc Summers, latest celebrity partition injury victim


It is nothing short of criminal. I mean that literally. The partitions are not up to federal safety standards and makers have been warned. The fix is in though. The USDOT has recently reversed itself on the applicability of federal law to partition performance and construction. It must be that the DOT has been compromised. George Patton died hitting his head on a partition. That was long before 1966, it was 1945 there were no federal standards and it was in Germany. Senator Claiborne Pell endured 70 stitches across his forehead from hitting a partition in the early 80's. Why does the NYC TLC claim they DID NOT require partitions until the 90's when it was the 60's? They have been crash testing with "live humans" for 43 yrs, now they want to injure dummies with the lab crash testing. What a waste. No, they don’t. Murders are unabated with partition use.

They aren’t counting those killed by partitions, in collisions and they aren’t counting those killed despite partitions, in assaults.

Some doctors have counted the losses.
In 1996 four surgeons from the Department of Surgery, New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center released a report, this is a review of it.

Taxicab accidents are a common occurrence in New York City. This review was undertaken to characterize the nature of craniofacial injuries that result from taxicab accidents
Data were collected on 16 patients who required admissionto trauma or plastic and reconstructive surgery services, after sustaining craniofacial injury as a result of a taxicab accidents.
Front-end deceleration collisions were the most common mechanism of injury.
Fifty-six percent of the patients were thrown against the bulletproof, Plexiglas driver safety divider and sustained an injury most commonly to the anterior midface.
Both bony and soft tissue injuries were common in the entire group.

It IS knife resistant. It is flammable. No, it doesn’t provide “a degree of safety”. It is not bullet resistant. If it was, it would still never stop a driver from being shot through the side window.

Luccile Barrascano, security consultant, says 82% of them are shot from the back seat. They separate the bad guy from the good guy.

Partitions protect the bad guy from the driver more than visa versa.
